Alan
C. Peterson was born in 1947 in Ludington, Michigan. He earned
his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan with Phi
Beta Kappa honors. He completed his M.D. degree at Washington University
in St. Louis with membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
He completed his general and thoracic surgery residency at the University
of Michigan Medical Center, then served as the Senior Registrar
in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Great Ormand Street Hospital for Sick
Children in London. During 1981-82, he was Assistant Professor of
Thoracic Surgery at the University of Michigan Medical Center and
Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Ann Arbor Veterans Administration
Medical Center.
