Bruce A. Hook was born in Durban, South Africa, in 1955,
and was graduated from the University of Witwaterrand Medical School
in Johannesburgh in 1978. He then served internships in general
surgery and internal medicine at Edendale Hospital in Pietermartizburg,
South Africa. Dr. Hook entered the South African Military Services
in 1980, where he rose to rank of Full Lieutenant and earned an
additional diploma in Aviation Medicine. On completion of his military
service obligation, Dr. Hook practiced primary care medicine in
England and Canada, while completing his studies in Basic Medical
Sciences for Surgeons at the Royal College of Surgeons in London,
England.
